Toy Fair 2014: Peek Inside Pop Culture Shock Collectibles Headquarters

Idle Hands visited with Pop Culture Shock Collectibles to find out what our favorite sculptors of monstrous, mixed media statues are up to. While they won't be at New York Toy Fair this weekend, we thought we'd take the opportunity to peek at all things geek shipping soon and in progress, drooling over every bit of clay on the table as we pondered what could be. PCSC's 2014 lineup includes Master of the Universe, Street Fighter, Robocop, Sons of Anarchy, Bee and Puppy Cat, Mortal Kombat and Bravest Warriors, so before we get to the mega eye candy, let's discuss the newest items shipping this year...

At Pop Culture Shock Collectibles headquarters, we met with Jerry Macaluso, who graciously gave us plenty of access and allowed us to bend his year for the 2 minutes of free time he had that day. Here's what we found out...

The fun all starts with Bravest Warriors bendies shipping now to retail locations like Hot Topic. Catbug ships in April, and large vinyl bobble heads follow in June.

We've asked Jerry how the high end market is doing and he said that it seems to be doing well. It may not be as strong as a year ago. Some things like Street Fighter do consistently well while other items have dropped in popularity. It seems the high end game still proves a risky bet.

The same can be said for the mega popular 1:6 scale (made mega popular by companies like Sideshow and Hot Toys). Things are either really good or REALLY bad depending on the license.

PCSC dives into the 1:6 scale this year with Sons of Anarchy, kicking things off with Clay and Jax. The crew had nothing to show at the moment, but tells they will ship when the next season airs.  There will be 2 versions available, one standard figure and one with a lot of accessories and alternate heads. There will also be polystone mixed media statues in 1:4 scale of Clay and Jax. You can expect these in the fall of 2014.  Prices are yet to be determined.

Another very cool polystone mixed media statue coming soon is Robocop, based on the classic movie. Pop Culture Shock's exclusive version will have extra parts but that is all they could say at this time. Price is estimated to be in the $400-$450 range. It will be shown at WonderCon in the Spring.

The company has recently signed a license for "Bee And Puppy Cat", which is like "Sailor Moon on hallucinogenics".  More on this soon!

Since we couldn't show you 80% of what we just talked about, we thought we'd throw in some shop pictures so you can share our more drooly moments. Go on....lick the screen. No one's looking.
