Bring On the Iron Man 3 Merch!

**SPOILERS AHEAD!! DO NOT DIVE IN IF YOU DON'T WANT SOME ELEMENTS OF
IRON MAN 3 REVEALED!!**

As we stand perched on the edge of 2012, we stare into an abyss of possibility. One landing point includes aliens, flaming rocks and an earthquake that shifts the continents and makes that TOOL song a reality. The other...business as usual. People keep being crappy to each other, your government makes their apathy clear and we take comfort in our little plastics to make it all better. To that end, we'll take another dip into the Marvel Comics Universe, started in THIS ARTICLE where we sketched out plans for Avengers Assemble, Iron Man 3 and Ultimate Spider-Man toys, THIS ONE on the Wolverine movie toys and finally THIS ONE expanding on the Iron Man madness to come.

Now, we step back into Stark-tainted waters and focus on one toy that had die hard fans speculating about IM3 movie scenes and another that was a bit of a mystery for us...

Ist up, we re-introduce the Iron Assemblers Battle Vehicle! Tony Stark's stylish ride launches your Iron Assembler figure out of the front, mimicking a scene from the movie. Almost all figures are compatible. Feb 2013

I can't wait to see the turbo nerds explode over those ultra hot inline skates. Hell, if they wanted to rip it right from the comics, they should be old school 4 wheelers, but this may be a nod to exactly that. You can also begin speculation on the likelihood we will see the car IN the film. So far, all signs point to yes. It matches Tony's taste in cars from past films, is very realistic and practical, and the wordage did say the toy mimics a scene directly from the film! So...meet Iron Man's new ride? We shall see!

Next, we have this lonely iron boy who surfaced without a point of origin we could discern and an outfit that would have been ignored as the Iron Man 1 hero suit. Upon closer inspection, You'll see the lines are a little sleeker and the armor elements simplified. It's the closest nod to the most popular comic book armor to date, and since it was relevant enough to warrant what appears to be an uncomplicated, mass market, kid's 12 inch action figure with no bells and whistles, I'll speculate that after Tony is blasted to holy hell at every turn, he is left with one armor...the most basic..and the one we grew up loving...well..almost. It's also a heavy nod to the first movie's armor (as we said), so it's like saying, in this third movie, after The Avengers escalated the Marvel Movie Universe to galactic proportions, we come full circle in Tony's development. I like it! We'll also go so far as to say this is a Hasbro toy, as you can see the tell-tale "one open hand, one closed hand" design they love so much for Iron Man figures.

*First image shows the Hot Toys Iron Man next to the new figure.
Last image shows the new figure next to the first image released for Iron Man 3 and an armor that looks very much like our new find.*

I'll go on to speculate that the decoy company name Iron Works to apply for the Miami shooting permit is relevant in the new movie. Right under our noses, a company called Titan Merchandice has released both A.I.M. (advance idea mechanics) and Ironworks T shirts. Careful timing or just an over abundance of nerdery? The company also has a Raft Prison Officer T..so..take from that what you will. The blurb for the T shirt reads..

Stark Industries is where Tony Stark (AKA Marvel Comics' Iron Man) designs his weapons of the future and his all-powerful iron armour - Stark Ironworks is where he builds them!

Since set pics and the A.I.M. T shirt giveaway at comic con blew the lid off of that mystery, it's not a stretch to think that this logo for Ironworks is something we'll see again soon. In closing, we got wind of a listing for Diamond Select Iron Man 3 Minimates! Archonia.com has the "top secret" pre-order (with no pics, natch) and the following text...

A Diamond Select Release! Designed and Sculpted by Art Asylum! The third Iron Man movie is almost upon us, and the trailers are promising plenty of action and drama. Well, Diamond Select Toys is promising Minimates! The newest assortment of movie-based Minimates will include Iron Man Mark 47 with the Mandarin, Iron Patriot with Extremis Soldier and two specialty-exclusive sets, War Machine and Maya Hansen and Aldrich Killian with Cowboy Tony Stark. Each Minimate stands 2 inches tall with 14 points of articulation and a variety of removable and interchangeable parts and accessories.

Maya Hansen: a scientist who developed the Extremis virus, which was stolen and given to terrorists. It was later found that she let it slip and was thrown in jail. Tony later breaks her out to fix his brain (?!) and becomes a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. A.I.M. kidnaps her and forces her to recreate the virus, leading to her demise at the hand of A.I.M.'s new super powered soldier. According to The Mandarin, Maya possess the genetic sequence that would allow her to survive the exposure to Extremis.

Aldrich Killian: Aldrich was in on the Extremis virus theft, but later, riddled with guilt, he shoots himself; his confession found in his suicide note.
