San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Sneak Peek : Mattel's Monster High Scarah Screams

When I first saw those quickie YouTube vids of Mattel's newest creation, I really didn't know what to think. Was this a test to see if people would dig it? If so, it was a daring experiment and one I did not expect from the keepers of Barbie. Years later, Monster High enjoys mega global popularity and proves the public is ready for original ideas that aren't so squeaky clean. I've applauded every second of this ride..if not those spent staring at empty shelves at retail.

Now, as we squeak ever closer to the opening bells of San Diego Comic-Con 2012, we are granted a sneak preview of Mattel's newest Monster High member; Scarah Screams, and her partner, Hoodude Voodoo!

Last July, fans everywhere voted for the next Monster High® character – online on Facebook, MonsterHigh.com and live at Mattel’s booth at SDCC. It was a close vote between Headless Headmistress Bloodgood™, Scarah Screams™ and Daughter of Arachne. Scarah Screams™, daughter of the Banshee, won the fan vote and is excited to make her dreadful debut as the SDCC featured item for 2012. Ghostly gossip on the street is that she may be bringing a date to the party. Stop by the Monster High® booth at SDCC 2012 to find out!

I'm 100 percent sure I don't have to "review" this item, as legions of fans are standing on their virtual doorsteps, money in hand, waiting for their opportunity to press buy (as many have already done during MattyCollector's pre-sale.) Suffice to say Scarah contains every bit of quality you would expect in the Monster High line, while Hoodude is stitched with care, detailed with precision and jam packed with charm. He's a plush doll, so there's not much to it. The only thing I would have loved to see in him is a wire frame for some limited posing options, but that probably would have raised the price of the package. Included are 1 journal for each character and 1 stand for each as well. Scarah gave me an "Attack of the 50 ft Woman" vibe, so a couple of my pictures reflect that. Meanwhile, Hoodude was mirroring Edward Scissorhands in my mind, so you may see that in my shots as well. Much thanks to Mattel for the opportunity to shoot these pieces.
