The trailer was...well...I don't want to call it epic, as it seemed more like the combination of many many elements swished around in a pot and flung against a wall ..you know..to see what sticks. We've got a world reeling after the colossal battle in Metropolis that ended when Superman nearly twisted General Zod's head off. Superman takes on an armored up Batman in scenes ripped right from the pages of The Dark Knight Returns and after a bit of a tussle, it seems they have bigger fish to fry with this film's version of Doomsday on a rampage. Wonder Woman ...and we assume, eventually, the rest of the soon-to-be members of the Justice League...step in to join the battle. We've been told this mini Doomsday isn't the only enemy the League will face in their first fight..and now new toys from Mattel may make it clear who steps up to beat down the forces of good.
Let's get right into it. There's a three pack of figures coming out which includes Superman, Batman and Lex Luthor wearing a fairly bad-ass suit of robotic armor. While it can be argued that some elements of a children's toy line are often exaggerated for the sake of fun (like Kryptonite Gauntlets and a Kryptonian Shield), i'm going to say there's a 75% chance we get to see this battle between Robo-Lex and both Superman and Batman...and that's a quality selling point!
**UPDATE** As I was giving these toy pics the once over, I realized a small detail I overlooked on my first pass, editing and posting... and it's a strong argument for why Lex's Mech Suit might actually be in the film. Did you check out the pics? Did you look closely? Did you spot the logo on his chest?
Another small movie element revealed in this crop of toys hitting store shelves as we speak can be found on the movie Batmobile. The art reveals a section of the Batman vs Superman fight may actually involve the Batmobile using its considerable armaments against Superman. Since the vehicle includes a "breakaway panel" feature, we can assume the Batmobile doesn't fair too well in the exchange.
Here's a look at the rest of the Batman vs Superman toy lineup hitting stores across the US right now. Note that there are blister carded figures that will be considered the "basic" versions of each character alongside core characters with gimmicky accessories. Those will be cheaper than the more detailed, better articulated "Multiverse" figures that have a Build-A-Batman-Grapnel-Blaster gimmick. You'll need to grab parts included in 8 Batman vs Superman Multiverse figures to complete your gun. Until the second 4 figures are released, I fear there will be a lot of people trying to be the bat with only a handle to their gun. So sad.
Larger Scale Figures
We've also uncovered some plush from Comic Images
And the greatest toys in the world... Bendies. You know you want them. They always look like they are about to dance.
