ABC's "THE QUEST"

This has the potential to be freakin HYSTERICAL. Say hello to your new guilty pleasure Reality TV show. One girl even showed up dressed as Velma from Scooby Doo. I can't handle it.

On July 31, 2014 at 8pm,  ABC will premiere THE QUEST, a groundbreaking new reality television series from the executive producers behind such television and motion picture hits as The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Amazing Race and Queer Eye.

A reality television series unlike any ever attempted before, THE QUEST combines harrowing and intense competition challenges, narrative storytelling and cutting edge effects and prosthetics to conjure an immersive fantasy environment in which 12 real people are plucked from their everyday lives and transported to a fantasy world where they compete to save a besieged kingdom. Only one will earn the right to be crowned the One True Hero.

Born out of their collective desire to "be in the movies" that they love,  the production team worked tirelessly to create a seamless experience for these 12 everyday fans of fantasy.  The goal was to surprise and amaze the contestants in real-time and to do so,  the producers put together a world-class team to fully envelope the contestants in a world with an elaborate and full mythology (developed by Haxan Films),  populated by animatronic creatures (created by the award-winning team at Spectral Motion), and real-time 3D projections (developed by NuFormer).

As we head towards the debut of this new primetime series, we are proud to share a brief sneak peek that offers an overview of the show and a sense of what lies ahead for our contestants.

For those who believe they possess the qualities to become a hero, THE QUEST will be at this year’s Fantasy Con auditioning potential new contestants for a chance to appear on Season two of the show (pending season two pick-up).

“We could not imagine a more perfect place to recruit cast members for what we hope will be season 2. Fantasy Con is a perfect match for our show and we couldn't let the opportunity pass to put potential contestants on tape,” said the executive producers, who include Bertram Van Munster, Elise Doganieri,  Mark Ordesky, Jane Fleming,  Rob Eric and Michael Williams.
