New Movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Figures Surface

Welcome to January 2014. Every January, Toy Fairs across the planet give retailers a chance to see all the wonderful new plastics they'll be able to sling to you all year long. That said, along with these glimpses at the entire year at one go, there are bound to be MOUNTAINS OF SPOILERS for your most anticipated movies! Hasbro has already drawn first blood with detailed looks at their Captain America: Winter Soldier toy line and a hefty lump of their Amazing Spider-Man 2 merch, without spoiling the complete look of the robotic Rhino or what is sure to be The Goblin...or Green Goblin..or whatever they are running with in the new film...and supplemental Cap villains as well.

Today, some lucky individuals got into a room with the full range of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie toys and one reported back on what he saw. Here's the meat of that conversation...

We've been asked to remove all descriptions of the movie turtles, which leads us to believe this information is pretty spot on for what we are going to see in the film..so..yay..but..boo.

Keeping the on set pics below for reasons. Hope to have more for you soon!

Some people emailing in were asking if there was a vehicle for the line. While we didn't get a report of one present alongside the action figures, one was spotted on the set and it looked like this...

Playmates loves to make a new turtle van toy with every new redesign of the TMNT crew, so we are going to put the likelihood we get one for the new film at 90%.

Pics courtesy of Superherohype, JustJared and others we could not pinpoint, so give a shout if they are yours and we'll happily credit you. Goofy Bay pic by me.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits screens August 8, 2014, starring Megan Fox, William Fitchner, Danny Woodburn, Whoopi Goldberg, Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, and Abby Elliott. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman. Produced by Jonathan Liebesman.

  1. Shredder having spikes portruding off all over him? Well, it might be a bit too excessive. Wonder how he's going to run around wearing all that armor. A possible clothes change may happen instead during the final showdown, if any.

Gladiator Raphael with a loincloth? Okay, not too sure what to comment on that, lol. Michelangelo seems to be fine on clothing terms, and Donnie too. Leonardo's design is also something that could be tweaked just a bit. Samurais and ninjas are not one and the same.

Still liking how they are giving distinct features for each of the characters, and how the tattered clothing is in. Nice, since something worn (especially in a sewer) won't hold up to near clean status.

April O'Neil with two sai knives? May haps that's going to have a use in the film also?

This was fantastic. Great job at managing to get all this info. This is great at helping to unfold this movie thing piece-by-piece. Only time could now tell...

  3. I'm a HUGE Turtles fan, but this seems too excessive. I don't want the movie to be to absurd and ridiculous. Based on the toy descriptions it seems like the movie will be just like that. Nothing will beat Steve Barron's 1990 version. Fact.

    1. Agreed. At least in the 1st film they respected the source material. I'm not too thrilled that they're altering the turtles classic outfits. Then again, I haven't been all that thrilled with the casting either.

  4. This movie was already doomed the moment they cast Megan Fox as April O'Neil!

  5. The Foot and Shredder sound like joke characters. Sounds like they should belongnin a Sci Fi horror movie.

    1. If you are talking about the names, a lot of the TMNT universe was originally intended to be part parody. Wolverine fights a never ending horde of fanatical ninja called "The Hand"....so Turtles battle "The Foot".

    2. Don't forget that the turtles themselves are parodies of the X-Men

    4. The actual joke isn't Wolverine. It's Daredevil, who has also fought The Hand and was trained by a sensei named Stick as the Turtles were trained by Splinter. The Mirage Comics take this one final step further by firmly implying that the same accident that blinded Matt also doused the turtles in ooze.

    5. Oh yea! 100% correct. They share characters so I always forget DD.

  6. I like it, Leo is described as wearing similar to his City fall Foot get up.
Enough with the negativity though guys. Its the turtles in a long over due movie. granted shredder sounds OTT but it may be toned down to look a little like the Nick armour.
I won't pass judgement until i see trailers and the film. i'll be first in the queue here in the UK - who's with me?

  7. I'm saying not that all of this is bad, I mean sure some of these designs I hear appeals to the 2012/IDW series giving the turtles and Splinters different looks and heights. But it loses me in the clothes designs as it's truing to hard to show the turtles personalities isn't that what dialogue is used to tell who is hothead, goofy, serious, and intelligent. Why does mikey have a hoodie wrapped around his waist and wears pairs of shoe!!! Why are the Foot look like the ninja version of Call of duty NPC's and why did the exaggerate Shredder's appearance. I know I sound like I'm nitpicking but I'm not I just got questions like are these the official product

  8. You guys are all whiners a true tmnt fan would just be stoked to see the turtles hit the big screen. Now brush the sand out of your vaginas and stop being critical until you see the movie.

    1. So basically, a "true fan" blindly accepts and settles for any kind of disrespect, isn't allowed to voice any sort of disappointment, and must always agree with any kind of poor mismanagment of their fandom from short sighted executives, and watch their franchise dragged through the mud with a zealous, brainwashed smile on their face, or they can just "get out"? I guess i've been going about this whole "opinion" thing all wrong then, according to you. Seig Hiel, der Fandom Nazi.

    2. So, Micheal Bay comes off as an idiot, yet you think Samurai come from China?

Really? I think you might want to go back and do some research, before you go around accusing other people of lacking intelligence. It's true that Samurai and Ninja have entirely different philosophies and heritage, but Samurai ARE Japanese, you incredibly ignorant, imbicile.

  9. I must say, I am very exited about the look of the turtles! I like the look they had since the beginning, but I'm open to them having clothing! Leo sounds awesome, I mean he sounds so battle ready, and I love the fact that Donatello has science gadgets on, and that Raphael is, well pretty much like all the older version, minus that lions cloth. Mickey get's me a bit worried and a bit exited though. I guess I'll have to wait till I see him in action. I don't want him to be a gangsta.

Splinter sounds alot like, well, Splinter. April seems normal as well.

Shredder and the foot is what I am worried about though, Shredder sounds a bit to spikey, and the foot don't sound like the foot. I said it before but I might as well say it again, I don't mind some foot ninja's with guns, but they are supposed to be a ninja clan, not an army, if you can mix the original with new I'm all for it.

I like the sound of this for the most part, but I will wait till the movie comes out to judge.

    1. Forgive me, but know that even Eastman and Laird admittedly misspelled his name and later corrected themselves when they found out it was Michelangelo, not Michaelangelo. There's a true and specific pronunciation difference between Mickey and Mikey, and the difference is mostly whether or not the person speaking the name sounds like a total dipstick or not. Think of how names were pronounced in the Avatar: The Last Airbender movie vs the show... it's like that whenever someone uses "Mickey" when referring to Mikey. Michelangelo says "A "ck" puts the "ick" in "Mickey" and Mikey thinks that that's just icky!" Remember: Mi-CK-ey is a mouse. Mi-K-ey is a Ninja Turtle. Mikey or Mike, when the nickname is used. Forgive my pet-peeve rage ._. Go Ninja, Go Ninja, GO!

  10. I'm glad they are all different physically. They're all different in the new series.
Can't wait ti see the trailer.

  11. WHHHHYYYYY IS THAT HORRIBLE ACTRESS APRIL!!!! Personally I hope Megan Fox stops acting, but this is a disgrace! I am a huge Teenage Mutant Turtles fan and I will not be supporting this movie in anyway solely on the fact that she is in this movie. And then we get to Michael Bay… NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! End his career now. Both of them need to go away. I really hope this movie bombs so that we can see a real TMNT movie instead of this utter crap.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sadly, if this bombs, would be about 5 to 10 years before they could attempt it again..and hope people care at that time. Remember what happened to The Last Airbender.

    2. But probably we never seen again The Last Airbender on screen, TMNT , on the other hand, are much more known and beloved characters so probably you're right about a new try if this movie fail.

    3. Everyone needs to let the fact that Michael Bay is attached to this go. Sure he sucks, but he's also not the writer... NOR is he the director. He is simply producing it. And yeah, Megan Fox is a horrible actress and of course we could do better... but we aren't going to at this point so stop complaining about it... either see the movie or don't but I've had enough of people jumping on the "I hate this because of blah blah blah" bandwagon.

The figures sound pretty awesome, and I'm looking forward to seeing this. There are very bad odds against it, sure.. but if you're the huge Turtles fan that you claim to be, you'll see it regardless of how you feel about these things... I will.

  12. Hope the Power Rangers make an appearance

  13. Why Samurai outfits and masks... Micheal Bay!!! Ninjas = Japan, Samurai = China. You just come off as an idiot.

    1. Actually Samurai are from Japan. Kung Fu is from China.

  14. Uh... not to be that guy... but just so you know for the future: Samurai (侍?), usually referred to in Japanese as bushi or buke were the military nobility of medieval and early-modern Japan.

  15. Kind of helpful we had some pics for the figures, no? I don't take overexagerrated descriptions too seriously since its just that. Overexagerrated

  16. The van is ridiculous. If you want to hide the fact that you are an anthropomorphic turtle you don't drive around in a van painted like a turtle. It was stupid in the shows and is still stupid now.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No one knew who or what was actually in that van until they got out of it, though. Your point is invalid.

Actually, doubly invalid because it was an early 90's cartoon. Logic and realism has no place in that realm.

  18. Is Donnetello inspector Gadget or a ninja turtle?!

    Only stupider.
