Electro Spotted in New York City
As Amazing Spider-Man 2 continues shooting in New York City, pictures come flooding in. Some are crap camera phone pics....but some are gorgeous movie-still-quality shots like those we found on Screen Crush today! Jamie Foxx lumbered through the streets, perhaps just after the incident which transforms him into a living bolt of electricity...skin a metallic blue and little lights lining his hood to illuminate his face...no doubt to be removed in post so the man himself appears to glow. As he leans against the light post, you can imagine what comes next. Maybe an explosion as the post is overloaded with power, sending a jolt to every post down the line which explodes as well. Electro is still a bit confused but understands the finer points of his new power and flees into darkness to think on his potential.
Our buddy Wilson over at BlackFilm.com talked to Foxx some time back about Electro's look for the new film...
"It won’t be green and yellow. It will be a different color. They (the producers) want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happen. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff."
So, while there is zero hope for the star-fish faced villain from the classic comics you know and love...but admit is dressed ridiculously... there is also little chance Foxx will be running around the film all nekkid and blue. After all..it's been done. This picture...
..suggests the character is overflowing with power. Foxx is fitted with prosthetic bits to make him appear all veiny and freakish. From this, we might assume it is a little too much power and a sort of containment suit might be in order. Perhaps those responsible for his accident make the suit to help him control this power as not to hurt anyone else, inadvertently giving him the means to channel that power effectively and, quite literally, putting it at his finger tips. My guess would be Oscorp!
Amazing Spider-Man 2 is still an entire YEAR away, so we've got plenty of time to speculate!
