The Iron Man 3 IMAX Poster

Where's the art, folks? Must I remind you of the golden age of movies when hand painted poster graced the lobbies of theaters across the globe? To a lesser extent, do I need to point to the excellent work of our friends at Lionsgate during the early days of Saw and Hostel? It's more than a bit sad when the multimillion dollar block buster movie's posters get outclassed but horror art. SHUDDER AT THE THOUGHT!! I'll go further and point to Mondo who TOTALLY get that we would love a little more showmanship behind the roll out of a film beyond the 16 trailers and clips making sure nothing is a surprise once you take your seat on opening day. Do we love what Mondo does with their artistic renditions of beloved movie posters? Does a sold out stack of 50 dollar posters give you a clue?

And here we are..again..waiting eagerly for the newest Marvel  Comics movie...and here...again..after a beautiful poster of our hero Iron Man falling helplessly from the sky...we get another Photoshop abomination. True, this is not as bad as the out of scale figures slapped onto that hideous Avengers poster I am still trying to forget, but it it still pretty damn ugly. You can just hear a company executive with absolutely no love for the previous movies or respect for years of excellent comics, standing over the shoulder of the digital artist saying "YEA..the guy and the girl..people love that shit. Now you gotta squeeze in my man Don..yeaaa..yea..and that Pearce fella in the back..the ladies like him..yea..yea..now we need The Mandarin in there somewhere..sort of ominous and brooding over Iron Man...YEAAAA...HOT...now throw in some fucking Iron Mans in the back and ..fuck..a helicopter maybeeee...annnnd done. Wrap it up kid! GOLD."

Ug.  Honestly..what the hell is Ben Kingsley trying to say with that look. It's like he is challenging Maverick and Ice Man to a sweaty volleyball game. Just look at it...

OK I need to get this out of my system.  so we have....this...

annnd....

right.. and this....

Right. Done. Demons purged. Now I can get back to anticipating an excellent movie with no desire to own any of the movie posters what so ever. My bank account thanks you.

EXPERIENCE IRON MAN 3 IN IMAX 3D ON MAY 3, 2013!
